The Weekend Edition: Turn Microsoft Copilot Into a Working Tool for Your Business, One Quest at a Time

Most small businesses already pay for Microsoft 365, and many have Copilot sitting in Word, Outlook and Teams. Copilot Quest is a gamified course that shows owners how to use it safely, one quest at a time.

Most small business owners already pay for Microsoft 365. Many also have Copilot sitting in Word, Outlook and Teams, and quietly intend to learn it when there is time. This weekend is a good time to start.

Copilot earns its place in a small team because it works where you already work. It can draft an email, summarise a long thread, turn a report into a one-page brief for your staff, and build a project tracker in a spreadsheet from a plain-English description. It works best, though, when you know what to ask, what to check, and which version your business has.

Which Copilot do you actually have?

Business accounts come in two levels. Every account includes a basic Copilot Chat. The full Microsoft 365 Copilot licence is bought per person and adds more: Copilot in more apps, and answers grounded in your own emails, files and meetings.

The quickest test is the Work/Web switch at the top of Copilot's chat. If you see it, you have the full licence. If you don't, you are on the basic version. Check with whoever manages your Microsoft account before you plan around either one.

Why a course, not another list of tips

Tips get bookmarked and forgotten. A lesson with a task at the end gets used. So we built Copilot Quest: six quests, sixteen lessons, a short quiz after each lesson, and a badge for finishing every quest. You earn XP as you go and rise from Rookie to Captain.

The course is based on a long training walkthrough of Microsoft Copilot by Sheree Brock, which is worth watching in full. Our lessons are our own explanations, written for owners and small teams rather than large enterprises.

What you will cover

  • →Home Base: the home screen, Work versus Web, custom instructions, and how to tell which licence you have.
  • →Prompt Craft: a four-part prompt (goal, context, source, expectations) and how to use Prompt Coach.
  • →Find It Fast: search versus chat, notebooks built from your own documents, and checking answers against their sources.
  • →Inbox Control: drafting and rewriting email, summarising long threads, and scheduling a weekly prompt.
  • →Make the Work: turning documents into briefs and decks, and building spreadsheets, including the difference between chat and agent mode in Excel.
  • →Meetings and Safety: meeting notes in Teams, and what never to type into an AI tool.

The habit that matters most

Copilot is a co-pilot, not an autopilot. Check every figure against its source, read every email before it goes out, and save a copy of a spreadsheet before an AI tool changes it. The course returns to that point in almost every quest, because it is the difference between saving an hour and losing a client.

Joining is free. It needs only a name and an email, and then you can start with Home Base.

Copilot changes often, and features depend on your plan and your company's admin settings. Each quest reminds you to check what your own account shows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the full Microsoft 365 Copilot licence to take the course?

No. The course explains which features need the full licence, so you can see what your own account offers before you rely on it.

Is Copilot Quest free?

Joining is free. It needs only a name and an email address.

Will the lessons stay accurate?

Copilot changes often, so each quest asks you to check what your own account shows. Menus and features may differ from the course.
